Meet Kendall Peterson. Her background includes 15 years in the banking and finance industry, including a decade in wealth management as a stock broker. In her experience, the industry had become so regulated and so litigious that doing your job and doing what’s right for the client had become almost impossible. And even when you do everything right, there is no way to protect yourself from lawsuits so after a decade she decided that it didn’t matter how much money it was paying, the stress wasn’t worth it.
Please tell us about your business and the service that you provide: You know how when some people wake up they don’t feel rested? Or, in the middle of their day they have an energy drop and lose focus, or they have aches and pains that won’t go away? CieAura has a new technology, it’s a holographic chip that when placed ON the skin simulates the effects of acupuncture without the needles. (Because I HATE needles.) There is one that helps you get better rest when you sleep, one for energy, stamina and mental focus, and one to help with aches and discomfort. They are perfectly safe for babies, children and pregnant moms since nothing enters the body, it is all surface and vibrational. CieAura takes 3,000 years of Eastern medicine and merges it with 21st Century technology to create something totally unique.
What motivated you to start your business? I have always been entrepreneurial. When you’re in Wealth Management, you’re essentially your own boss. I never expected to be involved with the health and wellness industry, but I saw how well these chips work on people, and I realized that the potential was for every medicine cabinet to have these just like you have aspirin and Band Aids(tm) in your first aid kit.
What kind of background or expertise do you have in your field? I think the biggest skill you need for my business is an honest interest in other people and in helping them live a more balanced life. It is easy to learn the basic placement of the chips. Once you get past that, relating to others is top on the list.
What trends do you see in your current industry? Well, because of my financial background, I have watched trends in healthcare. As insurance rules change, and doctors consider if they should stay in medicine or look for other careers, I see opportunity in health and wellness, and believe it will become the next trillion dollar industry.
What are the most demanding aspects about your business? I think just being consistent in sharing samples with people in need and following up with those you have given samples to so that you can find out what they like best is the most demanding aspect.
What are the most rewarding aspects about your business? This is easy. Seeing people find relief from the symptoms of discomfort from nerve issues and every day aches and pains, or finally waking up feeling rested and refreshed, or helping people not have that “2:30 Feeling” each day is what is most rewarding. I have even seen infants find relief when teething, and children have better focus and be able to perform easier with longer attention spans using the holographic chips.
What advice would you give to someone interested in starting a business like yours? If you have an honest interest in helping people achieve balance in their lives and want to be in front of the coming wellness revolution, seriously look into businesses like mine. Research the company you are looking at and if possible, look for a unique product or service not just a variation of something already existing. You want to find a company that has training opportunities and a system in place to assist you in your business.
What are you most proud of as a parent-preneur? As a Work at Home Dad, I am able to teach my children the values I find important and am able to schedule my life around their activities. When my son was 8 years old he asked “Daddy, why would someone go to a job when they could have their own businesses?” My answer was that sometimes they just didn’t understand that this is America, the land of opportunity.
How have you been able to balance your time between work and your family? Since we home school, I am involved in their lessons and can still do the work I need to do. Sometimes when traveling for work we will take the kids since we’re not tied to the government school schedule.
What has been the most effective way for you to promote and market yourself? I am most effective when I aware of the people around me and truly listen to the conversations I am engaged in. Most people you run into will either have a need for CieAura chips or know someone close who needs them. I hand out samples and then let the chips do the heavy lifting. It takes some hard work and dedication, but watching people’s lives change is well worth the effort.
Finally: What does your “Milk Money” provide for you and your family? My “Milk Money” provides for two wonderful home schooled children and a family with a Stay at Home Dad.
